OUR APPROACH TO THERAPEUTIC MASSAGE

We’re not a spa, and there’s no treatment menu to choose from. Every session at Ptown Massage + Bodywork is therapeutic massage, tailored to your body on the day you come in.

Our therapists draw from a range of techniques and blend them as they work, based on where you’re holding tension and what you’d like to feel when you leave. This page explains those techniques in case you’re curious. You don’t need to choose one. Book your session length, tell your therapist how you’re feeling, and leave the rest to us.

How It Works

When you book online, in person or by phone, you choose a session length and, if you like, a therapist. There’s room for a note if you have a preference, such as “focus on my shoulders” or “lighter pressure, please.” At the start of your session, your therapist will check in with you and adjust as they go.

The Foundation of Every Session

All of our therapists are trained in these three techniques, and most sessions use a blend of them.

Deep Tissue

Slower, focused pressure that works into deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue. It’s often helpful for chronic tightness, knots, and areas that feel stuck. Deep doesn’t have to mean painful. Your therapist works with your feedback.

Swedish Massage

Long, flowing strokes that warm the muscles, ease general tension, and help you settle into relaxation. It’s often woven through a session to connect deeper work.

Sports Massage

Techniques focused on muscles that work hard, whether from running, cycling, a long day of biking around town, or simply standing for a living. It can include stretching and targeted work on specific muscle groups.

Specialized Techniques

Some of our therapists bring additional training. If one of these interests you, you’re welcome to book with that therapist or mention it in your booking note.

Ashiatsu

The therapist uses their feet to deliver broad, even, deep pressure, often described as deeply grounding. It’s a good fit if you like firm pressure without sharp pointed work. Offered by Leonardo and Zoe.

Thai Techniques

Rhythmic pressure and assisted stretching that moves the body through its range of motion. Offered by Leonardo and Larry.

Prenatal Massage

Gentle, supportive massage adapted for pregnancy, with careful positioning for comfort. Please mention you’re pregnant when booking. Offered by Leonardo, Wayne, and Zoe.

Myofascial Release

Slow, sustained pressure on the fascia, the connective tissue that surrounds muscles, to ease restriction and improve how the body moves. Offered by Leonardo and Wayne.

Manual Lymphatic Drainage

A very light, rhythmic technique that follows the pathways of the lymphatic system. Offered by Leonardo.

Craniosacral Therapy

A gentle, hands-on approach using light touch around the head, spine, and sacrum. Many clients find it deeply calming. Offered by Wayne.

Reiki

A quiet, light-touch energy practice that some clients enjoy as part of a restorative session. Offered by Wayne.

Not Sure What You Need?

That’s completely fine. Most of our clients don’t know the name of what they need, only how they feel. Tell your therapist where it hurts, how much pressure you like, and what you’d like to walk out with. They’ll take it from there.
